Common Table Regrets (And How We Design to Avoid Them)
We’ve all done it.
You buy a table that looks perfect online…
Only to realize a month later it’s too tight for your space. Or the legs get in the way. Or the “solid wood” starts to chip under real life.
Table regret is real.
And we hear about it all the time from new clients ready to finally invest in something better.
Here are the most common regrets we see and exactly how we design to avoid them.
1. “It looked good… but doesn’t fit the room.”
A beautiful table isn’t worth much if you can’t move around it.
Most store-bought tables are made to look good in photos not flow with real homes.
How we avoid it:
We design based on your space. Not showroom dimensions. Not industry averages.
We factor in traffic flow, chair clearance, and breathing room because function should never feel cramped.
2. “The legs are always in the way.”
You pull up a chair and bump your knees.
Or worse your guests have to straddle a chunky center post.
How we avoid it:
We design leg styles based on how you use your table.
Want to seat 6 with clean lines? We’ll design with a trestle or tube base that maximizes space. Prefer the sculptural look of a pedestal? We’ll ensure it works with your seating plan.

3. “The color looked different in real life.”
That "warm walnut" stain online turns out orange. Or cool grey suddenly looks green under your lighting.
How we avoid it:
We offer physical stain samples and real wood swatches so you can see how the finish looks in your light, next to your flooring and walls. No more surprises.
4. “It started to wobble after a year.”
Most mass-produced tables are made with softwoods or engineered cores that can’t handle humidity shifts especially in Edmonton.
How we avoid it:
We only use kiln-dried solid hardwoods, joinery that allows for seasonal movement, and build everything with Edmonton’s climate in mind. Our pieces are engineered to last not just survive.
5. “It doesn’t feel like me.”
You compromised. Maybe on the shape. Or the finish. Or the details.
And now every time you walk past it, something feels a little... off.
How we avoid it:
We collaborate. We ask questions. We learn your taste, your lifestyle, your home and we design a table that actually feels like yours.
Because your home should reflect you, not a factory catalogue.
You Don’t Need to Settle
If your last table was “good enough” but never quite right you’re not alone.
But you deserve better.
Furniture that fits. That works. That lasts.
Furniture that makes you say, “I’m so glad I got this right.”
